Client Case Study Sara Foster - When I Grow Up

Client Case Study Sara Foster - When I Grow Up Um, do you know that Ive coached hundreds of women since I started offering dream career guidance in 2008? And that these women are freakin rock stars, leaving soul-sucking jobs and traveling the world and launching creative, grown-up businesses and simply doing work that fits their lifestyle goals? Well ya do now and youll hear their stories firsthand in my  Client Case Studies series! Sara Foster is a middle school science teacher who recently became a  Productivity Accountability Coach  with the help of  Discover Your Dream Business    90 Day Business Launch! Youd think an ultra marathoner (yes, that means she ran a 100 mile race!) whos been to all 7 continents would be all, Own my own business? Piece of cake! But nope and she doesnt act otherwise, either. Get the real story into her process, challenges, and takeaways below! Why did you decide to work with me? I first decided to enroll in Discover Your Dream Business after hearing an interview you did with Nicole Antoinette on the Real Talk Radio podcast. I had just finished the school year and was at the end of a two-year stint of questioning how and where else I could use my skills besides in the middle school classroom. As I listened, I said to myself, She sounds like she knows what shes talking about. It was a perfect time to hear your interview and I was primed and ready to explore what type of business may suit my skills and interests. After completing that program, I chose to continue working with you through 90-Day Business Launch because I had great results from Discover Your Dream Business and I did not want to lose momentum. What were you doing work-wise when we started working together and what are you doing now? I was working and continue to work part-time as a middle school science teacher. I supplement my income by working as a substitute teacher at my school on my days off. I also do after-school tutoring a few days a week. What was your biggest takeaway from our work together? My biggest takeaway was accepting the discomfort of being a beginner all over again and AGAIN and AGAIN. There were so many times during our work together when I needed to develop new skills and when answers didnt naturally flow as they do in my teaching job. Ive been a middle school educator for almost twenty years and though I push myself to learn and try new strategies, I can easily fall back on habit. As we worked together, I learned that it was okay to admit that I didnt know an answer or to need to do research or to take longer to understand a new website platform because while I sat in the discomfort or frustration I learned how to do new things and how I would work through a new process. Think of someone who is currently in the shoes you wore when we first started working together. What advice do you have for her? *Be excited! Your life is about to change! *Make time for reflection. Its a crucial part of this process and youll want to be sure you dont get swept off in a direction that seems right at the start but may not be what surfaces as you continue. *Keep up with your homework and timelines so that you can milk as much expertise as you can out of Michelle and the other group members (if you are involved with a small group). Is there anything thats been a game-changer for you when it comes to your business that you can share? Wed love a good resource or a mindset/productivity tip! I have come to understand the importance of being myself in my business. In order to find my people, I need to sound like ME on my website and in my communications. That being said, in order to sound like me, I need a clear vision of how I would like to help others with my services. From a practical skills standpoint, Ive learned about the importance of setting a timer while writing a draft. Ill sit for hours writing and rewriting if I dont impose a cut-off. Better to have something to improve at a later time than nothing to show for hours of toiling. Whats on the horizon for your business? Wed love to hear about any upcoming offerings or goals!   FosterForward is up and running and ready to hand out #allthegoldstars!
